Chasetown welcomed Warndon Vllages to Burntwood Leisure Centre on a wet but mild December morning for this Open Cup round one match. Fortunately Chasetown were out of the blocks fastest and were 3-0 up inside 15 minutes. First goal was after only 5 minutes. A well taken inswinging corner was turned into her own net by a Warndon player. Nobody wants an own goal so we will give it to Nicci...which goes with her other goal this season...also against Warndon and also, technically an own goal. Second goal was a cracker from Charlotte Bull from the idge of the area...ball was crossed along the edge of the area, big shout from Charlotte who struck the ball to the side of the diving keeper.

The third was a penalty. Jade broke up field and tore into the box to be brought down by the defender. Jodie Kinsey struck the penalty hard and the keeper had no chance. This was just reward for how well Jodie had been playing. Ball skills at their best as she repeatedly "danced around" the Warndon midfield...to be honest she needed more confident support from players on the flanks...that will come.

Chasetown then decided to rest on their laurels...bad move as Wardon made a change and played better. After half an hour, Chasetown's defence got too confident and tried playing the ball out of defence too much...Warndon capitalised on the mistake and brought them selves back into the game at 3-1. Fortunately Chasetown struck back within 5 minutes as Abi Picken got her reward for a lot of good work by taping in after a good effort by Jade.

Half-time 4-1 and Chasetown should have been cruising. 3 or 4 good efforts in the first 5 minutes of the second half by Warndon should have woken Chasetown up, but no. Warndon scored from a well struck corner and a good header on 50 minutes. Similar to the first half though...within a few minutes Chasetown had restored their lead. This time a cross from the right and a well struck volley from Jade soared into the net 5-2.

Warndon changed to 3 at the back and gained another goal to make it 5-3 on 70 minutes. A long way still to go but on a heavy pitch the game began to flag. It was obvious that there were plenty of tired legs around near the end and Chasetown were happy to hang on for the win.
