Whilst Chasetown Football Club’s first team is currently enjoying the most successful period of its history the club can proudly boast the largest junior football section in the local area with more than 250 registered players, boys and girls, from the ages of under 7 through to under 17.
The youth section was established more than 30 years ago, as Hammerwich Football Club, who enjoyed an association with the Scholars for a number of years. The start of the 2006/07 season saw Hammerwich FC formally adopt the Chasetown name and the two club infrastructures joined together.
Many youth section players have gone on to represent the Chasetown first team including, Nicky Harrison, who scored Chasetown’s goal in the historic FA cup game against Oldham. Matty Fryatt of Leicester City began his playing career with Hammerwich.
Over the years a number of players have had trials with professional clubs including West Brom, Walsall and Derby County to name a few.
As well as success on the pitch, Chasetown is one of a small number of clubs who have achieved Community Standard Status from the Football Association. It has also received the much-coveted Staffs FA Fair Play award two years in succession 2002/3 & 2003/4.
